As part of the ProWorkflow iPhone project, we needed to add a new permission for the ProWorkflow API. This just gives a higher level of security and flexibility. SuperUsers will find this new permission in the “ADMINISTRATION > User Permissions” popup.

New API Documentation!

Our developers have also updated the API documentation. Click below to download a copy of the latest version.

Not only have we made additional API calls available (thanks for the feedback!) but we’ve also added a new permission and pagination on the API page in the app itself. As a developer you may not be setup with ‘SuperUser’ permission but still be working on utilizing the ProWorkflow API – if this sounds like you then ask your account holder, or an administrator, to add the new permission and you’ll be happy as a pig in mud!

imageThe ProWorkflow solution was originally designed to be a ColdFusion code download back in 2002 when we began this crazy ride. Over the years the solution matured and subscription models started gaining ground. We started our subscription plans in 2004 and this model soon became the preferred delivery method to the point where now about 95% of users are on subscription rather than code.

The latest release of ProWorkflow (v7.3) is a massive change from the early v1+ versions and has totally transformed the way you can manage your projects, tasks, time and staff.

We know there are still a good number of ProWorkflow users on code with some users still using old versions of ProWorkflow back to version 1.0!

We want these early code users to experience what the ProWorkflow solution has become so they can benefit from greater ROI (and the awesome tools we’re releasing).

When on subscription accounts,  we manage backups, install updates automatically and manage the whole infrastructure for you. All you need to do is login and use it! We’ll do the rest!

We’re making available a one-time offer to allow older code customers to move to a new subscription account. We’ll even throw in some free access time so you can see how far it’s come before paying!
..

Here’s the offer!

Upgrade from Code to a Subscription Account:
Between the dates below and you will receive a free use period!

Upgrade between: Receive:
November 1st-7th, 2009 3 months free!
November 8th-14th, 2009 2 months free!
November 15th-21st, 2009 1 month free!

Open To:
Any code download customer with code version from v1.0 to v6.0.
(if on other versions, talk to us)

Offer Valid Until:
This offer is only valid from November 1st–21st, 2009. After this time code customers may still upgrade, but with no free period.

Wow! How Can I Sign Up?
Easy, just sign up for a subscription account from here:
Signup for a Subscription!

Note: Pricing info is shown on link above.

Sign up, then drop us an email letting us know the name of the company you purchased your ProWorkflow code download under. If you want your database imported, attach a zipped SQL backup file or MS Access database file.

We’ll attempt to import your data to the subscription. We can import about 95% of older code databases!

..

The Benefits!

ProWorkflow’s API!
You will have full access to the new ProWorkflow API. This means you can develop reports, tools to use with ProWorkflow or even integrate with other applications! The only limit is your coding skills!

ProWorkflow’s Time Tracker!
Download the Time Tracker widget! This is a great tool for desktop time tracking. Give it to your staff and it’ll make their life easier!

iPhone App!
We are about to release a full native iPhone application for ProWorkflow! This is in closed private beta currently but will soon be available. We believe it will be the best project management iPhone app on the market!

Accounting Integration!
ProWorkflow now integrates with Xero, Quickbooks and Kashflow! It’s easy to setup and just works!

Latest Code!
Subscription accounts are updated regularly. We update all accounts so you never need to worry about it! You’ll be on a solution that improves every week!

ProWorkflow lets you export contacts, quotes, invoices and most reports in both CSV and XML format. That’s great but we get quite a few customers asking how to go about importing these files into Excel so we’ve put together a few guides to help you out. These are based on Excel 2007 but if you are using a different version just let us know and we will post up a guide for you as well!

CSV Importing

1. Click “Data” to access the Data Ribbon.

2. Click “From Text”

image

3. Locate the file you exported from ProWorkflow.

4. Click “Import”.

image

5. Change the file type to “Delimited”.

6. Click “Next”.

image

7. Uncheck the box for “Tab”, check the box for “Other” and enter the pipe character “|” in the text box.

8. Check the Data Preview is now showing data in columns, then click “Next >”

image

9. You can change the formatting for each column at this stage but is generally easier to do that after the import so just click “FINISH”

image

10. Select where to import the data then click “OK”.

image

XML Importing

1. Click the “File” Menu.
2. Click “Open”.

image

3. Select the xml file.
4. Click “Open”.

image

5. Click “OK” to keep the default option “As an XML Table”.

image

6. If this prompt occurs then click “OK”.

image

XML Importing (Custom)

1. Click the “File” Menu.
2. Click “Open”.

image

3. Select the xml file.
4. Click “Open”.

image

5. Click “Use the XML Source task pane”.
6. Click “OK”.

image

7. If this prompt occurs then click “OK”.

image

8. A list of available XML elements will be displayed. Drag the required elements to the worksheet.

image

9. Once all elements are in place, right-click on one of the XML elements in the worksheet, select “XML” then click “Refresh XML Data”.

image

10. Repeat steps 8-9 if you need to add or change any elements then click the “X” to close the XML Source section.

We’ve made a tweak to the onscreen alerts that appear in the header of ProWorkflow so that only the 100 most recent alerts are shown.

We had seen a few cases where there were several thousand unread alerts and this was causing some pages to load slowly. We think it’s unlikely that anyone will want to read more than 100 alerts and all of the information is still stored in the audit log so it’s still accessible if you need it!
