We’ve opened up the ProWorkflow Mobile Webapp to allow your clients and contractors to get more involved with their projects and your staff. Your project management software has just got more mobile!

The view in the mobile app is a little more limited than the staff view but still gives them enough to see what’s going on, view files, add messages and have a general overview.

Have a play, try yourself with a client login and then start to tell your clients about their new project access!
.

How do we use it?

To access the mobile webapp, just open Safari on your iPhone or a web browser on your Android smartphone (or any smartphone). Just type in the account URL and add ‘/m/’ to the end…
.

Example:

If you account was: https://proworkflow5.net/SAMPLE/
You would add ‘/m/’ to the end. it should be:
https://proworkflow5.net/SAMPLE/m/
.

What will they see?

Below are the screens that your clients and contractors will be able to see. Please note they can only see THEIR projects only. Clients will never see other clients’ work.
.

Using the ‘Group by’ feature on the Projects Page and utilising Project Categories is a great way to quickly sort your projects. You can group your projects by important informations such as Client, Project Manager and Due Date.

On the Projects Page you’ll find the ” Group By”, on the right hand side near the top, with a drop down with seven different viewing options – simply select that one that you require and the Projects Page will automatically sort into those groups.

You will also notice that there is a Category selection available here. Project Categories are great for things like setting Project Status’s and Types of work.

To edit the Project Categories there are two options:

1. In line edit, when you select Group by Category you will see when you hover over the Categories they change to Green, simply double click and you can edit the name of each Category.

2. Or you can go to Administration > Usability Settings, scroll down and you will see the Categories Editor, here you can edit, add or delete Categories.

Our new Timeline has been really popular and as more of you use it we’ve had a few requests for extra features. We’re pleased to announce that the most popular of these has just been rolled out so check out the details below!

.

New! – Multi-select

You can now make a change to one Project or Task bar and the change will be replicated to any other bars you’ve selected, great for making lots of changes in less time.

Double-click on a Project bar to select the Project as well as all of its active tasks, any change you make will affect the Project and Tasks so adjusting your entire schedule is a breeze.

Note: If you just want to change a few Tasks then just hold down the Control key and you can select individual tasks one at a time.
.

Static Project and Task Titles

No matter how far you scroll sideways, the Project and Task names will always be visible so you can be 100% sure what you are making changes to.
.

Client View

Your clients can now use the Timeline Page to view any Tasks you have given them permission to see so they can see just how hard you are working for them!

These changes are live now on all accounts, if you don’t see them then you might need to clear your cache just to make sure you get the latest code.

We’re excited to announce that we’ve released the new Timeline with drag’n’drop capabilities for easy, fast Project and Task planning and scheduling!

.

The new Timeline lets you see your schedule and workload as well as giving you the power to adjust start and due dates with just one click.

Using the Timeline to reschedule your work couldn’t be simpler – just enable the Edit Mode, you can move the entire Project or Task or just change the start or due dates:

To help you plan future work and highlight any under or over-resourcing issues, the allocated hours per day for each staff member is shown below the Timeline. If you need a breakdown then just hover over the total to view all of the details.

Here’s the workload breakdown detail showing on hover.

The Timeline will automatically show you all active Tasks from 1 week ago onwards but it’s easy to adjust this if you need to see a wider range. Also there are handy filters so you can view tasks for a certain user, client or category.

The individual Project Timeline has also been updated on the Project Details page – scheduling has never been so easy!
.

Can I see it?

If you haven’t already tried this in your own account then you can view a preview here: http://www.screencast.com/t/mqKLBSjx

Note!
If trying this on your own account, we suggest you make a sample project and some tasks and play around on those first. There is no ‘Undo’!
.

We know that our ProWorkflow users have been looking forward to this and we already have plans for additional features so we’d love to hear your feedback – Send your thoughts!

Tim from Proxi talks about ‘billing by the minute’ and how the concept is proving a successful business model for their company and clients.

In the creative industry where the norm is ‘charge by the hour’, it’s refreshing to see a company looking after their customers and not overcharging.

They’re providing great service and the customer can have confidence they’ll be looked after. In the current economic climate, I think this is a very good move for Proxi and is sympathetic to customer wallets.

They use ProWorkflow for the time tracking which allows them to accurately track time by the minute and keeps the billing transparent for clients.

So have a read of their post and check them out if you need some creative work. I know Proxi will see you right!

Have a read!
http://www.proxi.com.au/blog/?p=24

.
We’re delighted to announce that our new mobile web app is now live on all accounts!

This will be a fantastic way to stay on top of your projects, tasks and staff from your mobile device and we think we’ve created something that will make a real difference to how you use ProWorkflow!
.

How do I get it?

Easy! – In your web browser, type your account URL into the address bar and just add “/m” to the end like the example below:

Normal login URL – https://proworkflow6.net/COMPANY

Mobile login URL – https://proworkflow6.net/COMPANY/m

At the moment only Staff can use the mobile site but in 2-3 weeks we’ll be adding support for clients and contractors as well as automatically redirecting mobile users to the correct site if they try to use your normal login URL.
.

Current iPhone App User?

This is a completely different application. The iPhone app will still work as normal. To use the new application, open your Safari web browser and type the address of your online ProWorkflow account as per the instructions above.
.

Need help?

No problem, if you want a helping hand or if you encounter any issues then just get in touch via our support page.
.

Screenshots

You’ll be able to use this on most smartphones and tablets but if you aren’t lucky enough to have one yet or are just curious then here are some screenshots so you can see what we’ve got waiting for you!

All of these screenshots are taken from an iPhone but the mobile web app has been tested on iPhone, iPad, Android and Blackberry devices. Windows Mobile Users will need to download Opera Mobile or another webkit-based browser (Internet Explorer can’t manage some of the more advanced features, sorry Microsoft fans!).

The Fix it tool (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2501696) is able to be used to patch this manually, as an automatic update is not yet available.

In the interest of security however we recommend that users consider moving to another Web browser until this time (Firefox or Chrome).

The full Microsoft Security Advisory (2501696) (http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/advisory/2501696.mspx) indicates that this affects Windows systems XP, Vista, 7 and various Server configurations. While Microsoft notes that there is currently no indication that this vulnerability has been exploited we do strongly advise to either apply the Fix it tool (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2501696), to switch to a browser that does not support MHTML or check with your IT team for protocol on this situation.

Many users have asked that we include the Rich Text Editor (we use TinyMCE) in the ‘Add Multiple Tasks’ popup so we’ve listened – and recently put out an update where this has been added.

Now when adding a task on the Project Details page (or to a Template) you’ll have the same great level of functionality found elsewhere in the tool, being able to easily paste from an email or highlight important details of the task will make collaboration that much quicker and easier. The formatting will come through beautifully on the email alerts and when viewing the individual task details.
